Danny Ocean's estranged sister Debbie attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York City's star-studded annual Met Gala. Her first stop is to assemble the perfect all-female crew: Lou, Rose, Daphne Kluger, Nine Ball, Tammy, Amita, and Constance.
Debbie plans to steal the Toussaint, a $150 million Cartier necklace, from Vogue's Met Gala in three-and-a-half weeks, and use Met Gala co-host Daphne Kluger, a famous actress known for her long neck, as an unwitting mule who will wear the necklace into the gala. The team manipulates Daphne into choosing Weil as her stylist, and Weil and Amita go to Cartier to convince them to let Daphne wear the Toussaint. They surreptitiously digitally scan the necklace to manufacture a cubic zirconia duplicate. Tammy gets a job at Vogue to gain planning details. Debbie seeks out Claude Becker, an art dealer who ratted her out to the police when they were discovered for art fraud, which led to her arrest and imprisonment. Debbie manipulates Daphne to invite Becker as her date to the gala. Lou realizes that Debbie is out for revenge on Becker, but Debbie reassures her that everything will be fine.
Weil discovers a flaw in the plan: The Toussaint can only be unclasped using a special magnet carried by the bodyguards hired by Cartier. Nine Ball enlists her younger sister, Veronica, to build a similar magnet in time for the gala. As the gala begins, Daphne consumes soup that Lou spiked, causing her to vomit in the restroom, a blind spot to the Met's cameras. There, Constance takes the necklace and sneaks it to Amita in the kitchen, where she secrets herself away while splitting the Toussaint into smaller jewelry pieces. When the necklace is discovered to be missing, the museum is evacuated and searched; Tammy "finds" the duplicate necklace to end the search before Amita is found. Constance slips the smaller pieces to the members of the team to smuggle out. Debbie plants one piece on Becker. After returning from the heist, Debbie and Lou reveal Daphne had been in on their plan due to seeing through Weil's bad acting, and offered her a share to avoid her revealing the plan to officials.
Soon after the gala the necklace is returned to Cartier and identified as a fake, and they call upon John Frazier, an insurance fraud investigator. Frazier is well aware of the Oceans and immediately suspects Debbie due to her presence at the gala, but her appearance on camera throughout the event gives her an unbeatable alibi. However, she suggests to Frazier that she may know who stole the necklace. Daphne visits Becker on a date and "discovers" the planted jewels, and sends a picture to Frazier so that he can obtain an arrest warrant. To further frame Becker, Debbie hires actresses disguised as elderly socialites to sell pieces of the necklace and deposit the money into an account in Becker's name. Frazier takes Becker into custody.
